winisd and the 3156

and..for note, i can build any size necessary, i was thinking a 9.8 cu ft box per speaker, but i dont understand what 3 below decibal meens?does it require more power to get to 0 gain? my original boxes were 29 inches wide, that being the size of the top to my heathkit valencias..however upon reading an older post by gm, where it says that a 15 onch driver likes a 30 inch box..the 3156 is a 16 inch driver..32 inch box? a current post from today recommended heavy bracing and upon further inspection of the m500 cab it has diagonal bracing on all surfaces. all i want is earth shaking bass to rest my 803 horns on..hehehe tho these are 3 ft in depth..so 30 inches by 19 inches by 36..11.9 cu ft. any help would be greatly appreciated. still looking for some horn cabs for my gpa 515g's. at the moment im using 32 403 and 409's for my mids

so..after reading many posts, i tried winisd beta and it said my ruffly 15000 sq in box w/ a 5 inch port would be a great box. however, when comparing this box to m500 box w/ 8000sq in.. well, there was no comparison, really. when i ran the simulation for the m500 box, an original design, i believe was a maestro series?, the winisd program said it was 3 dec below till like 188 hz?! maybe im reading this program wrong , but at this point a clone of the m500 box may be in order? tho i allready built two 15000sq in boxes. they sounded muffled ..dilema in montana

The M500 actually cubes out to 7.29 cu ft internal, less bracing and drivers. It was designed for the 3154, not the 3156, which are very different drivers. M500 measured dimensions are at;

Your 3156s are high output, high eff., at the cost of LF bandwidth. Try loading it in WinISD in about 3 cu ft tuned to ~65Hz. That's about what Altec used.

Don't get rid of your big boxes, though....just right for some 3182s/3184s, or 411s.

then what i have is no m500.. the box dimensions are 30x15x19 factory box,5 inch port4.9 cu ft and this box rocks! tho today it will be live from lincoln center, one of my favorite jazz shows on npr.
